Configuring Permissions (Desktop)

For NotifyMe to send notifications in your Discord server, it needs permission to post in the channels you've set up. Discord doesn't grant this automatically, you need to allow it manually for each channel.
This guide walks you through the whole process, step by step.

Step 1 — Open the Channel Settings#

In Discord, find the text channel where you want notifications to be delivered. Right-click on it and select "Edit Channel", or click the ⚙️ gear icon that appears when you hover over the channel name.

Step 2 — Go to Permissions#

In the channel settings, click on "Permissions" in the left sidebar.

Step 3 — Add NotifyMe#

Click the "+" button to add a new permission override, then search for NotifyMe and select it. Make sure you pick the one listed as a Role, not the bot.

Step 4 — Enable the Required Permissions#

With NotifyMe selected, enable the following 6 permissions by toggling them to ✅:
PermissionWhy it's needed
View ChannelAllows the bot to see the channel so it can post in it
Manage WebhooksRequired to create and manage the webhooks used to deliver notifications
Send MessagesAllows the bot to post notification messages
Embed LinksAllows the bot to display rich embeds with thumbnails, titles, and links
Mention @everyone, @here and All RolesRequired if you have a ping role configured in your notifications
Bypass SlowmodeEnsures notifications are never delayed or blocked by slowmode settings
Once all permissions are enabled, hit Save Changes and you're done. NotifyMe will now be able to deliver notifications to that channel.

Step 5 — Reload Server Data#

Once you've saved the permissions in Discord, head back to the NotifyMe dashboard.
Click the "Reload Data" button next to the "Add Account" button to make sure the dashboard picks up the latest permissions.

Still Having Trouble?#

If notifications are still failing after setting the permissions, it's possible that a server-wide permission or a role hierarchy is overriding the channel settings. Feel free to reach out on our Support Server and we'll help you sort it out.
